The Signe and Ane Gyllenberg Foundation clarifies its funding by updating the foundation’s medical regulations
WHY THE CHANGE?
The Signe and Ane Gyllenberg Foundation supports medical and related natural science research focusing on the mind’s significance for physical health, as well as research on blood diseases.
By updating our regulations, we have clarified our funding to meet today’s scientific needs and contribute to long-term benefit to society. We combine our humanistic heritage with modern medical research and support projects that deepen the understanding of the human being.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN IN PRACTICE?
Our focus areas for funding are:
• Psychosomatic medicine: how psychological factors affect the body’s organs and functions, the mechanisms behind these effects, how they may contribute to disease, and how treatment or therapy can reduce negative impacts.
• Holistic view of well-being: the interplay between mind, emotions, body, and the surrounding environment; the importance of the self and moral values; and what this implies for care. This includes the interrelation between organic and biodynamic agricultural practices and human health.
• Blood diseases: grants may be provided for research on malignant and benign blood diseases, including causes, mechanisms, treatments, and consequences.
Our funding is now more precisely defined, with the holistic perspective framed broadly and grounded in science.
